Berbicara dengan Autocar di IAA Mobility 2023 di Munich, CEO VW Group Thomas Schafer mengatakan "peran yang berbeda" telah direncanakan untuk pabrikan yang berbasis di Martorell.
Apakah itu? SEAT adalah singkatan dari "Sociedad Española de Automóviles de Turismo" (Perusahaan Mobil Tur Spanyol), namun dengan tidak adanya mobil generasi terbaru, masa depan SEAT masih belum jelas.
Autocar melaporkan bahwa SEAT bisa menjadi perusahaan mobilitas yang sama dengan Mobilize milik Renault.
Faktanya, SEAT sudah memiliki jajaran skuter listrik MÓ. Sementara itu, mobil yang ada saat ini akan tetap diproduksi selama beberapa tahun tetapi tidak akan langsung digantikan oleh model generasi berikutnya, setidaknya tidak dengan lencana SEAT.

However, Autocar projects the upcoming updates to the Leon compact hatchback and wagon could mark the demise of SEAT-branded versions.
In other words, the VW Group could be selling the 2024 facelift Leon exclusively as a Cupra, but nothing is official yet.
When asked about the future of SEAT, Schafer said "the future of SEAT is Cupra." He went on to mention that the VW Group will "invest heavily in the Cupra... it will improve."
The VW Group CEO defended the radical decision by saying that customers have welcomed the Cupra, so much so that it is the fastest growing brand across Europe.
Incidentally, SEAT started making cars 70 years ago when the 1400 first came off the assembly line in 1953. It wasn't until 1986 that the Spanish government sold the brand to the Volkswagen Group.
Fast forward to 2023, SEAT Cupra is not only working on updates to existing cars, but also plans to expand its product range with the Terramar, a small crossover mechanically related to the next-generation Audi Q3. By 2025, the DarkRebel concept will be an entry-level electric car positioned under the Born, joining the electric car line-up along with the emission-free Tavascan crossover.
